Nordic Floral: Children’s Knitwear

F/W 2022 Knitwear collection for children ages 6-8. These designs were inspired by Nordic style and are a playful take on floral patterns. Keeping comfort and style in mind, this collection offers a hooded two-sided poncho, a pair of overalls, a dress, and a V-neck tank top.

The fabrics were designed and simulated on SHIMA SEIKI software for a SRY-14 gauge knitting machine.

Inspiration for Nordic Floral was gathered from Scandinavian modern art style. This style focuses on giving a more organic take to geometric shapes and vice versa. Additionally, inspiration focused on my target consumer to gain insight for my final products as well as the colors used. Color inspiration was gathered from trending knitwear and traditional children’s wear.

Print/Concept ideation begins with my sketches, trying to find a flow to the style that I am trying to capture. Here, I wanted to make motifs that have a playful look to them. Prints that have a middle ground of geometric and organic shapes with a child-like feeling to them.
